Overview

The Marshall Field and Company Building, which now houses Macy’s State Street, is actually comprised of five buildings built between 1892 - 1914. The building has several atria including the famous Tiffany Dome Ceiling, which, at over 6,000 square feet is the largest glass mosaic of its kind and the first dome built with iridescent glass. The building is also known for its exterior clocks which weigh approximately 7.5 tons each. Marshall Field envisioned the clocks as a beacon for his store which he viewed as a meeting place.

Then, in 2018, Brookfield Properties purchased floors 8 through 14 from Macy’s to create a one-of-a-kind office building – 24 East Washington. These top floors had served behind-the-scenes purposes such as making Frango mints, furniture and other products sold in the store, as well as storing valuable furs in a vault. Unique features of the building include floor plates that range in size from 110,000 to 130,000 square feet as well as ceiling heights between 15 - 28 feet. Featuring a new lobby, 14 high-speed elevators, and a rooftop deck, 24 East Washington carries on the legacy of a Chicago landmark while offering an unrivaled experience for its tenants.
